FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (AUGUST 17, 2009)
Lovelife: Providence based electronic music collective and creative identity
Providence:
Lovelife is the house of house – a hub for a small group of DJs, producers and artists who came together in Providence, Rhode Island and have since scatted throughout the US. An umbrella for numerous creative outputs, the Lovelife collective has been busy preparing a new wave of audio and visual media for parties, videos, music and design. Stay tuned for several innovative projects including the launch of our sister media label. For updates, follow us on the internet: http://lovelifewith.us
Bio:
Lovelife DJs maintain club residencies, throw secret parties in Providence, Boston and NYC and travel the country for guest performances.
Lovelife co-founder and Providence native, Morgan Louis has graced the DJ booth in Providence, Boston, New York, Chicago, and Montreal for over 5 years. A trained sound engineer and audio industry professional, Louis’ true love is classic house and acid. With a catalog of original music soon to debut, there is much more to come.
Alvin Aronson’s simplicity and attention to detail sets him apart from any human being on earth. Although he works professionally as an industrial designer, Aronson is constantly developing new projects – from scoring music for video systems to gallery installations. His dedication to minimalism and atmosphere crystalize into spacious after-hours DJ sets and musical performances. With the recent formation of his interdisciplinary design studio, Object Group and the upcoming launch Media Catalog, a new media imprint, which will feature releases from Lovelife artists, expect to see is name cropping up (everywhere) soon.
Christopher Wade is a native of Cleveland, Ohio and DJ/Producer who loves to please crowds with quality dance music. His modesty and charm is reflected through his extensive (oftentimes exclusive) output of art and music. When not working on freelance graphic design projects or overseeing the Lovelifewith.us blog, he is shooting music videos and designing posters with his distinct, futuristic aesthetic. Willing to experiment with any genre of music, his production style always brings surprises.
Pomp&Clout (AKA Ryan Staake) is a photoshop magician who creates astounding visual transfigurations. In addition to designing the GUI systems that we use every day, Staake can be found in his analog video laboratory, executing Lovelife’s print and video output in an aesthetic entirely his own. Recent work includes live visuals for Diplo & Switch’s Major Lazer Project, Boys Noize – Jeffer music video, and the recent Betamix.tv project.
iThug is mysterious. Some say he’s a DJ, a youngster who loves house music. Others have described him as a wizard, causing events to occur in real life with nothing more than 1s and 0s.
Young Male is one of the few house producers left who refuses to use his laptop live – a principle not born of snobbery, but humility. In the space that computer monitors so often occupy, Young Male opts for the corporeal conversations that occur between performer and audience. His organic soundscapes combined with his down to earth attitude breathe fresh life into the ever-polished world of electronic dance music.
